Public consultation on the publication of extracts from the European register of market participants under REMIT

 

The public consultation is intended to collect views from all interested parties on the Agency’s proposal to publish extracts of the European register of market participants. Interested parties could be, for instance, market participants, organised markets and persons professionally arranging transactions, financial regulatory authorities, etc.

The deadline is extended until 13 December 2013, 12.00 noon, Central European Time.

The interested parties are invited to provide comments to the consultation paper and especially answer to the consultation issues listed in the Annex. The comments and answers have to be sent by 13 December 2013, 12.00 noon, Central European Time 5 December 2013, 12.00 noon, Central European Time to consultation2013ER06@acer.europa.eu.

The public consultation paper will be presented during the Agency’s public workshop in Ljubljana on 7 November 2013 and is also available below.

 

Background:

Regulation (EU) No 1227/2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 October 2011 on wholesale energy market integrity and transparency (“REMIT”) entered into force on 28 December 2011. REMIT lays down a requirement for the Agency to establish a European register of market participants.

The European register of market participants is based on the information provided by the EU national regulatory authorities (‘NRAs’). That information is provided to the NRAs by the registered market participants in each EU Member State. According to the REMIT, the Agency may also decide to make the European register of market participants, or its extracts, publicly available provided that commercially sensitive information on individual market participants is not disclosed.
