What is it about?

The webinar provides an overview of the updated European Resource Adequacy Assessment (ERAA) methodology and discusses how it will help streamline the approval of capacity mechanisms and coordinate electricity adequacy policies across Member States.

What is it about?

ERAA is the annual assessment of the EU’s electricity supply adequacy for the next decade. It is developed by the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) and based on the methodology approved by ACER. ERAA’s purpose is to evaluate whether the EU has sufficient electricity resources to meet future demand and to identify potential risks to security of supply. Each year, the assessment is subject to ACER approval.

ACER has approved the amended ERAA methodology in March 2026, with the aim of:

  • supporting streamlined national capacity mechanisms approval under EU State Aid;
  • simplifying the methodology;
  • improving adequacy modelling.

Event objectives

The event will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to:

  • learn about the main changes introduced in the methodology;
  • understand how it can support the streamlined approval of capacity mechanisms at EU level;
  • discuss with representatives from the European Commission, ACER, ENTSO-E and the Member States.
